iOS 6.1 Glitch Lets You Bypass iPhone Lockscreen Password

bypass iPhone 5 Pass Code
If other iOS 6 bugs are just making it harder for you to enjoy a great piece of technology, a new iOS 6.1 glitch actually exposes your private data. A YouTube video shows a tutorial that uses a iOS 6.1 glitch that lets you bypass the iPhone lockscreen password.

The Verge and Apple Insider used the steps in the YouTube video to test the iPhone lockscreen password glitch. Sure, the actual procedure is to some extent a bit uncommon, but it still gives straightforward access to your private data. Watch the video or follow these steps to test the iOS 6.1 Lockscreen glitch.

Step 1

Lock your device then slide to unlock

Step 2

Hold the sleep button until the device prompts for power down. Tap Cancel and then wait for the status bar to turn blue. Type an emergency number, tap Call and cancel it immediately, before it connects.

Step 3

Press the sleep button to lock the device and then turn it on by pressing the home button.

Step 4

Unlock your device by slide-to-unlock, hold the sleep/wake button and 3 seconds later tap Emergency Call button.

This will open your device and give you access to several private areas of your iPhone, including iMessages, FaceTime,. Photos, voicemail, call list, emails and contacts. YouTube users said they were able to replicate the iOS 6 hack on iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and iPhone 4.

It’s not the only iOS 6.1 problem users have reported and since the procedure involves an aborted emergency call, the actual passcode screen and pressing the home button and the power button at the same time, Apple isn’t exactly prioritizing this. “Apple takes user security very seriously. We are aware of this issue, and will deliver a fix in a future software update” reads the company’s statement.

This is also not the first time the iPhone lock screen glitch is reported. In 2011, researchers bypassed iPhone’s lock screen password in six minutes using a hack that gave them access to every single feature of the device.
