P0sixninja Announces New Jailbreak Progress for iOS 6.1.3

Apple’s iOS 6.1.3 release might have made the evasi0n jailbreak useless, but it looks like hackers are one step closer to a new jailbreak. From the looks of it, this time it’s P0sixninja that gets to play the main part. Two tweets and an exclusive interview hint that the next jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 is closer than imagined.

Hackers took their time with the iOS 6 jailbreak for A5 devices and we were just getting used to it, when Apple suddenly decided to release iOS 6.1.3 to fix some security exploits. With other words, Apple’s new rollout of firmware was meant to put an end to the jailbreak developed by evad3rs. 4 out of the 6 security flaws that the new firmware was meant to patch were discovered by evad3rs.

Just a couple of days ago, the evad3rs website wrote about an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 developed by P0sixninja, one of the most popular hackers and member of the Chronic Dev Team. It was soon after the hacker’s own tweets caused frenzy in the jailbreaking community. “Well, so far it looks like the next jailbreak might be created entirely by me” reads a tweet posted by Joshua Hill aka P0sixninja late last week.  Shortly after the first tweet, the hacker posted another message explaining “Evad3rs haven’t gone anywhere”. He has “discovered all the needed exploits on” his “own over the past few months”.

In an exclusive interview with iDesignTimes, P0sixninja was asked if he will release the public jailbreak code for 6.1.3 using the exploits he found. Unfortunately, somebody else will have to step up for the public jailbreak of iOS 6.1.3, because P0sixninja is planning to keep the exploits under the key until Apple releases iOS 7.0 or 7.1.

“I’ve been working on it. Some of them were ideas I had years ago, but everyone said I was crazy, and I’ve just started looking into them more and realizing I was right” the hacker explained about his recent jailbreak breakthrough.
