Last month, Apple has released iOS 6.1.1 which most iPhone 5 users
already installed. However, iPhone 4S owners have been experiencing
problems with 3G. Last night, Apple released a firmware version that
fixes the bugs, so it’s time to update iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1.1.
iOS
6 is not compatible with all Apple devices, but who could have imagined
even iPhone 4S would experience glitches with the new firmware? It
wasn’t until just recently that iPhone 4S owners started experiencing 3G
performance issues and extensive battery drain. Users began complaining
even about overheating problems after they have installed the iOS 6.1
firmware.
Vodafone even released a warning about the potential
3G bugs. “While Apple’s investigations continue, we would recommend that
anyone who has not yet installed iOS 6.1 on their iPhone 4S should
delay doing so until Apple has confirmed that the problem has been
fixed” reads Vodafone’s statement released last Friday. According to the
phone carrier, “some customers may occasionally experience difficulty
in connecting to the network to make or receive calls or texts o to
connect to the Internet”.
Even some businesses have warned
employees about updating to iOS 6.1 because it caused excessive logging
issues when connected to an Exchange server. Several sources have
confirmed the issue. “I had a user upgrade to 6.1 and immediately after
he finished, his phone/IPAD started causing excessive logging on the
exchange server. I found the problem by using exmon and saw the CPU
utilization in conjunction with high session count” reads a bug report
on Microsoft Technet.
“This update fixes an issue that could
impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S” reads Apple’s
announcement about the 6.1.1 update for iOS. Following Apple’s iOS
update for iPhone 4S, Vodafone made a second announcement, advising
users to download the latest version “as soon as you can as this will
deal with these issues”.
