The iPhone model rumored to be launched this summer is said to be featuring several new enhancements, like a fingerprint sensor in the home button. Seeing as Apple bought the smart sensors maker AuthenTec in last July and since competition is already there, the analyst believes the inclusion of the fingerprint sensor is needed for the company to remain current in the market.
The fingerprint sensor would be the next big thing Apple could bring to the smartphone market, in an attempt to expand the gap between the other frontrunners in the business. And it’s a perk many users would definitely prefer, since it provides for much improved security and it also cuts the number of passwords and user names a user has to remember.
“In contrast, many Android and Windows Phone devices have more than one button below the display, and those buttons frequently lack the mechanical push of Apple’s home button” writes Ming-Chi Kuo. “As a result, attempts to integrate fingerprint scanning on competing devices would be less intuitive, and could frustrate users”.
There is also reason to think that with iPhone 5S Apple will integrate its branded payment service, which will be possible and safer thanks to the fingerprint sensor.
